Located in the Mt. Scott-Arleta neighborhood of Southeast Portland and designed by Holst Architecture, 72 Foster provides 101 affordable housing units to intergenerational families—the first project of its kind in Portland. Its location along public transit, along with diverse floor plans ranging from studio to 3-bedroom, make 72 Foster an affordable, ideal place of residence for individuals from diverse walks of life.
The large open spaces on the first floor, along with the hundreds of people occupying the building at all times, mean that 72 Foster had the potential to be a very noisy building throughout the day. Thanks to MBI’s Cloud-Lite Acoustical Baffles, however, this is not the case. These baffles suspend from the ceiling in the main lobby and throughout the first floor, creating a pleasing visual effect. More importantly, the baffles absorb sound and create a peaceful place of residence for the building’s tenants. MBI’s Cloud-Lite Acoustical Baffles offer a sound dampening solution to challenging projects, and are ideal for use in large open spaces such as those found in apartment buildings, gymnasiums, theaters, and more.
